I never thought I would repeat the same experiences I had my freshman year at Tech, but I was so wrong...
I was the freshman. The new girl. Wandering around the campus trying to find my place and looking at my newly created schedule and roughly printed black-and white campus map - all at the same time.
Well, it wasn't that dramatic. But it did feel like freshman year all over again. Not knowing any familiar faces, new professors, and not to mention doing it all in german. But I absolutely loved it! I have always loved the first day of school, from kindergarten to now. Just ask Mommy... I slammed the car door on the first day of kindergarten so excited to start my first day!
The lectures were interesting, and I understood a lot more than I thought I would. It was nice to be with German students and to go over course schedules. I enjoyed my second course a lot more than my first. The second course was a lecture series on energy efficiency, and the professors have several guest speakers from various fields lined up to come speak throughout the semeser. And the sudents are primarily graduate students. So I felt much more at home. The first course was an intro level freshman course, and I am not sure that I am going to stay in the course. It was a very basic overview of energy policy, but it could be beneficial to improving my german. I have the week to "shop" around and finalize my class schedule at the end of the month.
I am settling in a bit more now, especially with an active schedule at the university this week. I even joined the international club! I know that no one is surprised : )
I went site seeing on Saturday and then out dancing with my Fulbright friends! So here are some pictures posted of me touring around on Saturday morning.
Lots of love from an official german student (I have my stamps and receipts and all the official documents that the germans require to prove it! : )
